Privacy Policy
Yabul: Korean Words Battle 100 has no sign-up and no login. We receive data only when you join the ranking: the nickname you make up, the country you pick, and your score — and, if you send us one, your feature suggestion. We do not collect any other personal information.
1. What we collect
We do not collect your name, email, phone number, address, date of birth, contacts, photos or location. (In the mobile app, Google collects some data for advertising — see section 4.)
Only when you join the ranking, the following is sent to our server (Cloudflare).
- Nickname — a display name of 2–16 characters that you type yourself. Please don't use your real name; we have no way of knowing who it belongs to.
- Country — the country you choose from a list, shown as a flag next to your nickname. It is not taken from GPS, your IP address or any location service. The app only suggests one from your phone's language setting, and you can change it.
- Score and round — the score, number of correct answers, topic and time of that round.
A device ID is stored with it. It is a random string the app creates on your device — not an account, not an advertising ID and not a hardware ID. It disappears when you clear the app's data, and your records do not carry over to a new device.
Your nickname, country flag and score are shown publicly on the ranking. Nothing else is visible to other players.
The app also sends usage events to our server so we can find where people get stuck: when the app was opened, rounds started and finished with their score and topic, and which features were tapped. These contain nothing that identifies you. Wrong answers and the options you picked are never sent. Usage events are deleted after 180 days.
Feature suggestions
If you send a suggestion from the Me tab, we store the text you wrote, the device ID above and your app language, with the time it was sent. Suggestions are never shown publicly — only we read them, to improve the app. Please don't write personal details in them. Suggestions are deleted after 180 days.
2. What stays on your device
These are stored only in your browser's storage and never leave your device:
- Your scores, accuracy and streaks
- Words you missed and the options you picked (used for your review list and analysis)
- Settings such as language and topic
Missed-word analysis is calculated on your device. Nothing is sent for it.
3. Sharing and processors
We do not sell or share the data above with third parties. The web version has no advertising or tracking. The mobile app shows ads from Google AdMob, and Google collects data for that directly — see section 4.
Ranking data is stored and served by Cloudflare, Inc. (data processor). The items processed are nickname, country, score, round information, device ID, feature suggestions and usage events, for the sole purpose of providing the ranking and improving the app. Cloudflare's servers may be located outside your country, including in the United States.
Ranking alerts (only if you allow notifications in the app) are delivered via Expo (650 Industries, Inc.) and Apple or Google push services, which receive the push token and the message text only.
4. In the mobile app only (Google Play / App Store)
This section applies only to the mobile app "Yabul Korean". The web version in your browser has no ads, and none of this happens there.
Ads by Google AdMob
The app shows ads from Google AdMob (Google LLC; Google Ireland Limited for users in the EEA and Switzerland): a banner at the bottom of some screens (never during a round), an occasional full-screen ad when you leave a results screen, and optional reward ads that you choose to watch for one more ranked try or to continue a practice game. We limit ads to content suitable for a general audience.
To show and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK in the app collects data directly and sends it to Google. According to Google, this can include:
- Advertising ID — the Android Advertising ID, or on iPhone the IDFA only if you allow tracking when the app asks
- Device information — such as device model, operating system and version, language and app version
- IP address, which Google may use to estimate your approximate location (country or city level). The app itself does not request GPS or location permission.
- Ad interactions — which ads were shown and whether you tapped them — and diagnostic data such as crashes of the ads SDK
We do not receive this data, and the app does not send your advertising ID to our server. Google processes it under its own policies: How Google uses information in advertising and How Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Consent (EEA, UK and other regions where it is required)
Where the law requires consent — for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland — the app shows Google's consent form (User Messaging Platform) before any ad is requested, and you choose how Google may use your data for ads. If the app cannot confirm your choice, it shows no ads. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time: Me tab → "Privacy & ad choices".
Opting out of personalized ads
- iPhone: when the app asks whether it may track you, choose "Ask App Not to Track". You can change this later in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. If tracking is not allowed, the app asks Google for non-personalized ads only.
- Android: in your device settings go to Google → Ads (or Privacy → Ads) and delete your advertising ID or opt out of ads personalization.
- You can also manage ads personalization at myadcenter.google.com.
You will still see ads after opting out; they are just less relevant. The game works the same.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, the app schedules a daily "new round" reminder on your device (a local notification — nothing is sent anywhere for it).
In the app we also send a ranking alert when another player passes your score in today's battle (at most one a day). For this the app sends your device's notification address (push token), together with the random device ID and your app language, to our server (Cloudflare). The alert is delivered through Expo (650 Industries, Inc.) and Apple Push Notification service or Google Firebase Cloud Messaging; the message contains only the other player's nickname and your rank. If you turn notifications off or delete the app, we stop sending, and a push token that has not been used for 90 days is deleted. You can turn notifications off any time in your device's notification settings.
5. Children
The ranking is intended for users aged 13 and over, and the app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has joined the ranking, contact us and we will delete the entry.
6. Your rights · deleting your data
You can delete everything stored on your device by clearing the site's data or uninstalling the app.
